Tottenham hopeful of Dembele signing
Tottenham are hopeful of beating the January transfer deadline to sign Fulham striker Moussa Dembele, Goal understands.

Spurs are keen to strengthen their forward line in the coming days as they seek a high-calibre back-up to first-choice striker Harry Kane.

Sources have since confirmed that the club have identified Dembele as a priority acquisition, and it is understood that Fulham, while they are hopeful of retaining their young star, would be willing to do business were an acceptable bid to be tabled.

It has been reported that the Cottagers value Dembele - whose contract expires at the end of the season - at around £6 million and Spurs are believed to be willing to meet the Championship club’s asking price as they attempt to beat the deadline to sign the France Under-20 international.Goal understands that Juventus are also interested in signing the attacker as a potential replacement for Simone Zaza, who has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League in recent weeks.

The attacker has scored 11 goals in all competitions thus far this season and Spurs are understood to be keen to acquire his services immediately instead of loaning him back to Craven Cottage.

Spurs have pursued a strategy of signing young British players with a high sell-on value in recent months, with Dele Alli the shining light of their recruitment strategy.
